The 40th IATSS Awarding Ceremony
The International Association of Traffic and Safety Sciences (IATSS) is one of the two major traffic-based academic institutions, which has provided a forum for scholars and other experts to discuss and conduct research on the present and future states of transportation within societies, since its establishment in 1974 by Soichiro Honda, founder of Honda Motors.
The achievement award of the IATSS Award was presented to GMS’s “introduction and expansion of a new business model for tricycle operation through information and communication technologies” in the Philippines. Our business received high remarks for improving the reliability and convenience for operators, drivers, and users of transportation systems that are vital to the region, and for evolving a sustainable transportation system by creating jobs for drivers.
Through our vision “We make people happy through the provision of mobility service,” GMS, as a global startup from Japan specializing in financial inclusion business, aims at creating a system in which every individual is correctly evaluated for their work. GMS has been selected as one of the companies of the “J-Startup" program, a program which supports the development and overseas deployment of Japanese start-up companies, and the expansion of unicorns, provided by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). We are also amongst the first J-Startup company to receive the IATSS Award. This award will be a great encouragement for us to expand our activities in seeking a truly “sustainable” society, and to further engage with the SDGs.
Please look forward to the future efforts of GMS.
